Merline Yvonne Castillo Flowers
Merline Yvonne Castillo Flowers, proudly married to Godwin Alexander Flowers Jr., and deeply blessed to be the mother of one child, Shavoney Charla Flowers, and a joyful grandson Kylian Belisle, who keeps our hearts full, and spirits lifted.
Ms. Castillo journey in the Belize Public Service began in March 1990 as a Radio/Telephone Operator. Just four months later, she was elevated to the post of Typist; now known as Secretary III. Over the years, Merline steadily advanced through the ranks, serving as Secretary II, Secretary I, and ultimately Senior Secretary. Each role brought new challenges, growth, and opportunities to serve with purpose.
Throughout her career, Merline had the privilege of working across various ministries, gaining a broad understanding of the unique responsibilities each one holds. She was fortunate to be mentored by superiors of great integrity and wisdom, whose guidance shaped her work ethic and commitment to excellence. To them, she offers her deepest gratitude.
As a quiet, reserved, and hardworking individual, Merline found joy in the connections she made learning from colleagues, building lasting friendships, and contributing to a culture of respect and collaboration. Her personality allowed her to work harmoniously with others and believed this played a key role in her success as a public servant.
To fellow public officers: aim high, give your best, uphold the regulations, and always remember that our duty is to serve the people. Let your work be guided by integrity and compassion.
As Ms. Castillo close this chapter, she does so with immense appreciation for ending her career under the leadership of our Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Natural Resources, Petroleum and Mining, Honourable Cordel Hyde. It has been an honour to serve, and carry forward the memories, lessons, and pride of a life dedicated to public service.
THANK YOU BELIZE PUBLIC SERVICE!
