Carolyn Martha Gladden

After 41 years in nursing, one thing I tell you for certain is that stress is an inevitable part of this profession, but how you manage it can make all the difference. My biggest piece of advice is to prioritize your own self-care. You can't pour from an empty cup. It's easy to get caught up in the chaos of patient care and pressure of deadlines but remember that your well-being matters just as much as anyone else's.
Take breaks, even if they're short and use them to reset your mind. Whether it's a five-minute walk, deep breathing, or just in silence, make time for it. Set boundaries when you need to do feel guilty about taking a step back when things feel overwhelming. Find an outlet outside of work, whether it is exercise, hobbies, or time spent with loved ones. Remember, it is okay to ask for help and lean on your coworkers too. Together, we can support each other. Prioritize yourself, so you can continue to care for others the way they need. To God be the Glory.
