Maria Marina Tucker
With over 35 years and 10 months of dedicated public service, she has built a career defined by commitment, professionalism, perseverance, and service to the people and country of Belize.
Beginning in 1990 as a Typist, she progressed through the secretarial field to become a Senior Secretary, the highest level within the secretarial field at the time. Her journey reflects the important and often underestimated role of the secretarial profession in the effective functioning of the public service. Far beyond typing and routine administrative duties, the profession demands organization, discretion, confidentiality, sound judgment, attention to detail, communication skills, reliability, and the ability to manage responsibilities with professionalism and integrity. Over the years, she served in various Ministries and Government Departments, supporting the work of senior officials and contributing to the efficient delivery of public service.
Her professionalism and dedication have been recognized through letters and memoranda of appreciation from members of the public and colleagues, reflecting the respect earned throughout her years of service.
Her commitment to service extends beyond her professional career. She serves as a Senior Justice of the Peace, Commissioner of the High Court, and Court-Connected Mediator for Civil and Criminal Mediation, further contributing to the administration of justice and the community.
Guided by the principle to “serve the people without fear, favour, affection or ill will,” her career reflects a steadfast commitment to fairness, integrity, respect, and meaningful service.
Her journey from Typist to Senior Secretary and justice-sector professional is a testament to hard work, continuous growth, resilience, and a lifelong commitment to serving Belize.
