Sherett Elaine Bowen Laing

Glory to God for keeping his promise in never leaving or forsaking me.

Sherett Elaine Bowen Laing joined the Ministry of Social Services and Community Development in 1991, now known as the Ministry of Human Development, Family Support and Gender Affairs. During her distinguished career, she later obtained a Bachelor of Science in Social Work in 2009. After thirty-five years of dedicated service, she proudly retired from the Public Service, leaving behind a legacy of professionalism, compassionate leadership, and commitment to the people of Belize.

Throughout her remarkable journey, Sherett served in various capacities within the Ministry, contributing significantly to the planning, implementation, and management of programs aimed at promoting social welfare, child protection, and community development. Through her work, she helped improve the lives of individuals, children, and families across Belize.

Sherett led with integrity and empathy and demonstrated a strong work ethic and unwavering dedication to the Public Service. Her commitment and professionalism earned her the respect and admiration of her colleagues, stakeholders, and the communities she served. Through mentorship and guidance, she helped shape the careers of many officers while fostering a culture of excellence within the Ministry.

As she reflects on her thirty-five years of service, Sherett is filled with gratitude for the many lessons, experiences, and opportunities that have shaped both her professional and personal life. Every challenge became an opportunity for growth, and every success was made possible through the support, teamwork, and collaboration of the colleagues, mentors, friends, and stakeholders whom God placed along her path.

She is sincerely thankful for the friendships that were built, the knowledge that was gained, and the trust that was placed in her throughout the years. As she closes this remarkable chapter of her life, she gives God thanks for the wisdom, strength, guidance, and cherished memories that have accompanied her throughout her journey.

Above all, Sherett gives God thanks for everyone who has been a part of her thirty-five-year journey, especially her beloved husband, Kevin Laing, and her children, Leshawn, Jemica, Kevin, Kaylin, and Kyle. She is deeply grateful for their unwavering love, encouragement, patience, and support throughout the years.

It has been an honour and privilege for Sherett Elaine Bowen Laing to serve the Government of Belize and the people of Belize. As she looks toward the future, she does so with a heart full of gratitude, knowing that the lessons learned, relationships formed, and experiences gained throughout her career will continue to guide and inspire her in the years ahead.

With a heart of gratitude, Sherett proudly celebrates her retirement, giving all glory and thanks to God for carrying her throughout this incredible journey and for allowing her to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
