Erene Del Carmen Rodriguez, born April 5th, 1971, serves as the Senior Secretary for the Ministry of Rural Transformation, Community Development, Labour, and Local Government at the Corozal District office.
Erene's family is her pillar of strength. She is the mother of two, Leslie Amarelis and Yancel Andrick Rodriguez, and is happily married for 32 years to her husband, Julio Mijain Rodriguez.
Her journey to public service is rooted by years of hard-work and perseverance. Raised by her single mother, Reynalda Castañeda, in the small village of Chan Chen in the Corozal District, Erene witnessed her mother's sacrifice carrying out several job roles to pay through her education, until finally attaining her diploma at the Corozal Community College in 1987. This cultivated within her the diligence and commitment to prevail any obstacle and acquire the knowledge and skills required to persevere one's goals.
She then began her career in the Public Service in June 1990 as a clerk/typist at The Ministry of Labour. Over the years, she gained valuable experience and knowledge, which led to her promotion to Secretary III. Subsequently, she pursued secretarial studies, successfully completing various courses online and in person, culminating to her final promotion to Senior Secretary. On June 15, 2025, she proudly completed thirty-five (35) years of serving her people and country as a public servant.
As the frontline person in the department, she believes public servants must provide an image of courteousness and empathy to understanding every client's unique situation in order to problem
solve and deliver top service. Her years in the Ministry have not always been easy. Nevertheless, she has forged every challenge for personal growth. She advices current and future public servants to be instilled with the belief that leadership is service, not position.
