LILIA MIDDLETON
- Lilia Middleton was born on 27th June 1968 in Esperanza Village, Cayo District. Her journey in the Public Service began in October 1986, when the opportunity to enroll at the Bliss School of Nursing, in the Practical Nurse program, setting the foundation for her nursing career. On completion of the one-year program, she worked at the Belize City Hospital for a short period and thereafter was transferred to Belmopan Hospital. Working at the Belmopan Hospital from 1988 to 1991, she gained much experience in nursing and the desire and the drive to continue her nursing education was nourished and encouraged by family and colleagues. Lilia was accepted into the Registered Nursing Program from 1991 to 1994. On completion, she subsequently returned to Belmopan Hospital to work as a Registered Nurse until 1997. 1997 to 1998, she pursued the Midwifery Program at the Bliss School of Nursing and did internship at Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital; then subsequently transferred to the San Ignacio Hospital and worked as a Registered Nurse Midwife until 2001. From 2001 to 2003, Ms. Middleton ventured into Public Health Nursing, at the University of Technology, Jamaica, obtaining a BSc in Public Health Nursing. She returned to Belize and was assigned to the Maternal and Child Health Unit as a Public Health Nurse in San Ignacio until 2018. During 2018 to 2020, she was promoted to Senior Public Health Nurse, responsible for the Maternal and Child Health Program for the Western Health Region and took office at the Western Regional Hospital in Belmopan. In August 2020, was further promoted to the Ministry of Health and Wellness Headquarters, under the Maternal and Child Health Unit as a Nursing Administrator, to manage the Expanded Program on Immunization at the national level up to present.
