Luis started his public service career at the Customs Department on the 4th April 1989 in Belize City and had the opportunity to serve in all sections of the department at different levels. He ascended as a custom and excise officer at the northern border. His years of service at the department have given him the opportunity to work at different stations as a junior and senior officer. Luis has also attended many local and international trainings throughout his career where he met many persons who have helped him in the development of career and personal life. On the 15th May 2024 after serving 35 years, I retired from the public service as better and more knowledgeable person.
Luis life has been a learning experience from very young and has thought him that you must dedicate yourself to achieve what you really want to accomplish. This also applied in his career as a custom officer as one must dedicate time to understand and learn the job. Every day you can learn something new from people you meet or even from your fellow co-workers being seniors or junior officers. As a public servant he encourages all who joins the service to listen and learn as that will make you a better person in and outside of the job.
