Yvette Karen Gentle

Yvette Karen Gentle is an employee of the Government of Belize and served in the offices of the Governor General of Belize, the Prime Minister, Immigration and Nationality Department, Ministry of the Public Service, Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to being placed on her current assignment as Vice Consul at the Consulate General of Belize in Los Angeles, California, United States of America, as a permanently appointed Administrative Officer at the middle management level within the then Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Immigration, she provided administrative, internal auditing, logistics and human resource management support services.

Miss Gentle’s educational background includes a Baccalaureate Degree in Economics and Finance and a Master’s Degree in Management from Galen University, along with many professional development certificates such as diplomacy, change management, human resource management, public sector administration & financial management. Miss Gentle also utilizes her research and analytical skills as she contributed to the publication of Annual Reports in the respective Ministry/Departments served.

Miss Gentle served as Belize’s representative on the Technical Working Group (TWG) of the Caribbean Leadership Project in designing leadership program for the Caribbean Public Sector in 2012. She also served as Co-Chair of the Human Resource Committee at the National Emergency Management Organization. Miss Gentle’s experience, meticulous work ethic and professionalism have earned her the respect of peers, within each department and ministry she has served. Miss Gentle continues to demonstrate strategic focus, vision, and mature judgement gained during the thirty-five (35) plus years of her successful career.

During Miss Gentle’s thirty-five plus years in the Belize Public Service, she has encountered many challenges in the different ministries/offices she served but has always found a way to work within the systems, rules and regulations to problem solve and deliver. She is considered to be strict by many, but those same individuals would also comment on her fairness and ability to work with them to resolve their issues.

Yvette Gentle is the mother to two wonderful daughters, Satia and Shaz, who made many sacrifices, accommodating her absence from home, whether locally or internationally, in service to the Government and People of Belize.

MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE
Her memorable experiences include travelling throughout the different Districts interacting with and be of service to her fellow Belizeans. She has also travelled extensively internationally both to receive training and to represent Belize as an expert in her field. Yvette Karen Gentle reflects fondly and gratefully on her thirty-five (35) plus years in the Belize Public Service. Her many years of work as a public servant has afforded her the deep understanding of government’s responsibilities and the crucial role it occupies in the lives of its citizens. She was new to the Public Service, but her work ethic and impeccable respect for serving the public were evident to her supervisors throughout the years, who recommended her to perform in many roles, including personal assistant to Belize’s Head of State and First Governor General of Belize. She served in that capacity for many years. Miss Gentle rose through the ranks of the Belize Public Service to become the knowledgeable and trusted Public Servant she is today and continues to serve in her current diplomatic assignment. She loves Belize and Belizeans and always gives “24 and more” as her children and siblings would say, whenever she is call upon to serve.
